Everton Park Cinema & Theatre

Client: Concept
Value: Concept
Location: Everton, Liverpool

Design strategy for Everton park which was a small area within the overall masterplan. The park was designed to incorporate retail, housing, various themed gardens as well as landscaping features and a key iconic theatre which sat on a plinth at the top of the site. This was to be seen as a landmark building within the overall design strategy.
The creation of the detailed masterplan then led to the design of a major building within the park, the Cinema & Theatre building. The proposals included a large theatre which was capable of holding large scale productions, also there were 5 cinema screens which were incorporated to show contemporary student film, and also latest film releases. The Ground floor level consisted of a large cafe space which spilled out onto a large landscaped area with views accross Liverpool. Also at ground level was a museum, this had the ability to be divided and re-arranged to chosen sizes for certain visiting exhibits. The first floor level included the main theatre reception area, this included large floor to roof glazing which allowed unobstructed views towards the waterfront. This theatre and cinema building would provide a much needed facility within the Everton community. The building would be very much community orientated with various community events held within the building. This building would provide everton park with an important facility and architecture which was striking, this was a key building within the overall urban masterplan.
